About South Norfolk Orchestra

Founded in 2019, the South Norfolk Orchestra Ltd is a vibrant, friendly community of musicians who share a love for making music together. Based in the heart of South Norfolk, we welcome players of all instruments, abilities, and grades - from those picking up their instrument again after years away, to more experienced musicians looking for a relaxed and enjoyable group to play with.

Our repertoire ranges from timeless classical pieces to well-loved film scores, with something to inspire everyone.

What unites us is a shared passion for music and the joy of playing together in a supportive, inclusive environment.

We rehearse every Tuesday evening from 18.30-19.30 at Poringland Village Hall, and we welcome all new comers. Whether you are looking to improve your playing, meet like-minded people, or simply enjoy the magic of making music in a group, you'll find a warm welcome waiting for you at South Norfolk Orchestra.

We have vacancies for all instruments. Please get in touch if you are interested in finding out more.

Our Reviews

DG

I had been playing the trumpet for many years, but then let it go for quite a long time. About a year ago I decided to resume my musical endeavours by joining the South Norfolk Orchestra. I was made extremely welcome and it is a joy to play in the Orchestra. Theresa , the conductor, has been so encouraging, even as I was getting back into my stride. The members of the orchestra  are also very friendly and and welcoming.  I commend the Orchestra without reservation.

LA

I joined SNO three years ago playing alto saxophone. The band members and conductor are very friendly and welcoming and I have enjoyed playing with them. In addition to our weekly rehearsals, we have played some concerts for friends and family which have been great fun, and allowed us to show what we have achieved together. We play a wide variety of music from some classical pieces to show-tunes and film scores. The pieces are selected to ensure everyone in the band has interesting parts to play, which keeps rehearsals engaging for us all. If you are looking for a friendly, supportive group of musicians to join and have fun with, SNO could be for you!
